Most of us dont get hurt, but the beauty of the tattoo and the pride that comes with wearing it far outweighs the pin stick here and there.How about using some kind of anesthetic cream? Such products are really not recommended.

  • How Much Is It Going to Cost?

    When it comes to tattoos, you get what you pay for. Yes, there are many people who get tattoos for a very small fee. But look for quality and be prepared to pay for it. Never bargain over the price of a tattoo. This is disrespectful to the artist. Think of it this way: its a work of art that youll wear for the rest of your life.

  • Should I Tip My Tattoo Artist?

    Tipping is a very nice gesture. But there are no real hard and fast rules for tipping.

  • What Should I Get? And Where?

    Its all a matter of personal taste. You can get whatever you want and whatever your artist is willing to do. You can choose a painting from the wall or have them create a custom piece just for you. The only limit is your own imagination.     If youre getting a tattoo, especially as an expression of your personality, why would you want the same tattoo as someone else? Instead, find other images of what youre looking for and let your artist draw a custom design for you. Example: If you want to get a tattoo of a penguin standing on a glacier, find real photos of penguins and glaciers. If you want a blue rose tattoo wrapped around a cross, find images of real roses and crosses that you like. If the images dont show exactly what you want, just take them to your artist to use as a guide and tell them what changes you want to make to the original images. A true artist will gladly accept the challenge of creating an individual work.

We agreed on a design of a woman to the waist with her arms out, and I paid my £80 deposit. Kim then sent me the design the night before my appointment. It was nothing like what I asked for at all (just a womans face and shoulders). I raised my concerns and she refused to do the tattoo how I wanted as she thought her design would look better, as she wanted to focus on the beauty of the face. Sorry, but this is not what was agreed when I paid my deposit, so I requested a refund as our contract had been breached. She is refusing and I am having to resort to court action. Edit: In response to the owners reply, firstly I would like to point out I have a few other large custom tattoos, from various other tattooists, and have never had an experience like this. The mock up in the consultation she mentioned was a small, vague biro sketch, with a woman to just below the waist, and we agreed verbally I wanted preferably to the knees. When the final artwork was presented, it was of a woman’s head and shoulders, so not what was agreed in the consultation. You say it was impossible to get what I requested due to the size, yet as you say, it was meant to be a rendition of another tattoo, the same size as the original. Therefore completely possible, as someone else has the design I wanted. In response to me “shouting in your establishment”, this was during a phone call, where you raised your voice and tone at me when you took offence when I suggested if you could not deliver what I wanted then you shouldn’t have accepted the work in the first place. You say you offered to amend the design, but you said you would not do what I requested, as you thought it would not look good. It’s my tattoo, my choice. If you don’t want to do it don’t take my money. I did seek legal advice, and was advised by citizens advice that you were in major breach of contract, and should be legally required to repay the deposit to me. However due to family commitments, It was a while before I got round to completing the paperwork to take you to small claims court. I decided in the end not to bother as it was only £80. You are a talented artist, and tattooist. But have acted in a dishonest, rude, unprofessional way. A tattoo is personal to me, my skin is not your canvas to have carte blanche to mark how you wish. I am your client, and your job is to tattoo what I want, not massage your own ego.
